Terrence Ransford

Terry is currently a Fellow in the University of Chicago’s Leadership and Society Initiative.  Prior to joining the LSI program he spent 47 years in the financial services industry.  Terry had senior roles in securities brokerage, trading, asset management and product development.

Before retiring from the financial services industry in September of 2024 Terry was a Partner and Global Head of Investment Operations and Trading at Aon Investment Consulting, a $200 billion asset manager based in Chicago.  Prior to joining Aon he spent 17 years at Northern Trust in securities brokerage and technology related roles.

Terry’s experience with trading and technology began when securities trading moved to the internet.  He was responsible for one of the earliest bank owned securities trading sites, First Chicago NBD Investment Services online brokerage in the late 1990s.  An innovator, Terry was also part one of the first virtual banks, WingspanBank.com, where he was President of Wingspan Investments Services.  In recent years his focus turned global.  He was responsible for Northern Trust Securities global broker dealer trading and later for operations and portfolio management systems for Aon’s global asset management business.

Terry’s community and civic involvements include United Way, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Symphony, and Misericordia.  Terry holds a BS in Economics from Illinois State University.
